Post Steward Ann Spiers

History:
The Poetry Post, a cedar pole, stands in Vashon town’s Village Green. The post is modeled after Yakima’s Poetry Pole, stewarded by Jim Bodeen of Blue Begonia Press. All are invited to pin poems (their own or others) on the pole.
In 2006, a gathering of forces erected the pole, including Loren Sinner Cedar, Vashon Parks and the Village stewards, Bill Ferris’ Raven’s Isle Woodworks, Bill Mann, Island poets Ann Spiers and Zack Krieger. Paul Motoyoshi offered a tea ceremony as a blessing for the Post on the Winter Solstice 2006. The posted poems are periodically collected and archived.
